What is NAIMA and what does it teach in Montreal?
NAIMA is a Canadian professional training and certification platform for medical and aesthetic practitioners. It describes itself as "a premier professional training and certification platform for medical and aesthetic device practitioners," trains in seven cities (Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Kitchener and Regina) and reports 15,000+ graduates.
Training is grouped into injectables (neuromodulators, fillers and advanced injection techniques), medical and regenerative medicine (PRP, hormone health), aesthetics, men's health, and business and practice development. NAIMA's stated approach combines theory with hands-on practice, practical guidance and post-course support.
Every NAIMA course and masterclass is offered in Montreal: the core injectables certifications (neuromodulators and dermal fillers), the 8-Day Preceptorship Program, and regenerative and men's health masterclasses such as the PRP Hair & Face Masterclass led by Dr. Peguy Telusma.

Neuromodulators Certification (Botox training)
The Neuromodulators Certification is an intensive 2-day course covering neuromodulator injections with products such as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, facial and muscle anatomy, product knowledge, safe injection practice and aftercare. Each student completes a minimum of 13 procedures on live cosmetic models provided by NAIMA: 2 bunny lines, 2 lip flips, 3 frontalis lines, 3 glabellar lines and 3 crow's feet. A medical practitioner supervises while you inject. Full detail is in our Botox training in Montreal guide.
Dermal Filler Certification
The Dermal Filler Certification is a 2-day, hands-on course. Students perform a minimum of 2 procedures each across lips, jawline, chin augmentation, smile lines, cheek augmentation and under-eye rejuvenation, and each student receives 10 syringes. Live models are provided. See the dermal filler training in Montreal guide.
PRP and regenerative masterclasses
The PRP Hair & Face Masterclass covers face and neck plasma rejuvenation, PRP hair patient selection, treatment protocols, preparation, injection techniques and post-treatment care, on live models with close trainer supervision. The Joint PRP Injectables Masterclass covers PRP for knees, elbows and shoulders using a handheld ultrasound device, plus shockwave protocols for over 20 musculoskeletal indications related to joint pain. Our PRP training in Montreal guide compares them.
Men's health masterclasses
NAIMA's men's health line includes the Penile Enhancement & Hormonal Therapy Masterclass (1-day, hands-on, for medical professionals, led by Dr. Jimmy Kwok), the Bocox & Scrotum Tox Masterclass and the Oh! Shot and Erotes Shot Masterclass. Ask admissions for the session outline of the Penile Enhancement masterclass.
Who can enrol in NAIMA courses in Montreal?
Licensed medical practitioners can enrol. NAIMA's FAQ lists physicians, surgeons, nurse practitioners, RNs, LPNs, RPNs and internationally trained medical graduates, and the about page also names dentists. Course pages state that "entry requirements and practical training vary by program," and admissions confirms eligibility for each course.
Enrolment eligibility and legal scope of practice are two separate questions. A course certificate shows you completed training. It does not authorize you to inject. In Quebec, what you may do after training depends on your professional order (ordre professionnel), as outlined below.
Who can inject Botox (botulinum toxin) and filler in Quebec?
Under Quebec's framework, physicians may perform aesthetic injections after individually assessing the patient, and nurses (infirmières) may inject with an individual prescription from a physician. Collective prescriptions for aesthetic injections are not permitted, and a physician must be available on site within 15 minutes after an injection procedure.
These points come from the joint notice on medico-aesthetic care by the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ) and the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) (CMQ/OIIQ notice, PDF). According to that notice:
- The physician must carefully evaluate each patient, make a diagnosis and set a treatment plan with an individual prescription.
- Collective prescriptions (ordonnances collectives) authorizing nurses to perform aesthetic injections "ne sont plus autorisées."
- The prescribing physician, or another responsible physician, must be "accessible et disponible sur place dans les 15 minutes suivant une procédure d'injections."
- The nurse assesses the patient before each treatment and refers back to the physician if a contraindication appears. The nurse adjusts the plan only if a protocol allows it.
The legal base sits in Quebec statute. The Medical Act (M-9) reserves activities to physicians, including invasive procedures and prescribing, and the Nurses Act (I-8) lists among reserved nursing activities "administering and adjusting prescribed medications or other prescribed substances." Federally, botulinum toxin is on Health Canada's Prescription Drug List, and dermal fillers are regulated as Class III or Class IV medical devices.
Profession (Quebec) | Aesthetic injections under the CMQ/OIIQ framework |
|---|---|
Physician | Yes, after individual assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan |
Nurse (infirmière) | Yes, with an individual prescription; physician available on site within 15 minutes |
IPS (specialized nurse practitioner) | Confirm with your college |
Nursing assistant (infirmière auxiliaire) | Confirm with your college |
Dentist, pharmacist | Confirm with your college |
Quebec's rules may be updated. The CMQ, the Ordre des dentistes du Québec, the OIIAQ and the OIIQ have announced a joint initiative to set common guidelines for medico-aesthetic care (joint release, PDF). For a profession-by-profession breakdown, read Who can inject Botox and filler in Quebec?.
Scope of practice is set by your regulatory college. Confirm with your college before practising.
If you practise outside Quebec and train in Montreal
Clinicians from Ottawa or elsewhere can train in Montreal, but training location does not change scope: the rules of the province and college where you practise apply. For Ontario rules, see Who can inject Botox and filler in Ontario?.
Where is NAIMA's Montreal training held?
NAIMA uses GLIF Medical, 14 Place du Commerce, Suite 430, Verdun, QC H3E 1T5, phone (514) 665-0558, as a training venue in Montreal, and every NAIMA course runs in the city. Your Admissions call confirms the venue for your session.
NAIMA's locations page advises: "Confirm the venue and available training dates with admissions before making travel arrangements."
Travelling in from Laval, Longueuil, the South Shore and beyond
Verdun is on the Island of Montreal, so it is reachable by car or public transit from Laval, Longueuil and the South Shore. Clinicians coming from Gatineau and Ottawa, or from Quebec City, can plan around road, rail or air travel into Montreal. Because masterclasses are 1-day sessions, out-of-town participants can often plan around a single overnight stay. Confirm start and end times with admissions before booking.
How much does aesthetic training cost in Montreal?
Posted tuition ranges from $2,000 for the 1-day PRP Hair & Face Masterclass to $9,995 for the 8-Day Preceptorship Program. The Neuromodulators Certification is $2,500 and the Dermal Filler Certification is $4,500. Admissions confirms tuition for the Penile Enhancement & Hormonal Therapy and Joint PRP Injectables masterclasses.
Other posted masterclass prices: the Liquid Rhinoplasty Masterclass is $2,995, the Oh! Shot and Erotes Shot Masterclass is $2,995, and the Musculoskeletal Shockwave Therapy & PRP Masterclass is $6,995. The 3-Master Classes: Men's Health & Sexual Wellness bundle states it saves 29% versus individual classes.
Payment and financing options
- Instalments: tuition can be paid upfront or in four bi-weekly instalments, according to NAIMA's FAQ.
- Humm financing: flexible financing up to $30,000 for tuition and materials, up to 5 years in equal monthly payments, 0% interest on eligible loans, early repayment without penalty, and a credit decision in under 7 minutes. Apply through admissions; online card checkout does not submit a Humm application. Details are on the financing page.
- Refunds: students in Certification Courses can receive a full refund with written notice 30 days before the class starts. There is no partial refund policy. Enrolled students can reschedule to any course with 15 days' notice.
What happens during hands-on training?
Hands-on means you inject, not just watch. On the Neuromodulators and Dermal Filler certifications, a medical practitioner supervises while you treat live cosmetic models provided by NAIMA, in small groups with 1:1 treatments meant to mirror a clinic. On the PRP Hair & Face Masterclass, you perform PRP treatments on live models under close trainer supervision.
NAIMA's FAQ also states that students may bring their own models to training. Separately, NAIMA runs a model call program for members of the public. Model treatments are not free; the site says they come at a cost "with 50% or more savings."
How do you go from training to practice in Quebec?
Training is one step. To practise in Quebec, you also need to work within the CMQ/OIIQ framework: a physician who individually assesses each patient, an individual prescription for nurse injectors, and a physician available on site within 15 minutes after injections.
A practical sequence for Montreal clinicians:
- Check your scope with your professional order (CMQ, OIIQ or other).
- Book a 30-minute admissions call to match a course to your licence and goals.
- Complete hands-on training (for injectables, the Neuromodulators and Dermal Filler certifications are the usual starting point).
- Arrange your clinical setting: a prescribing physician, individual prescriptions and on-site physician availability as the CMQ/OIIQ notice requires.
- Use Health Canada-authorized products obtained through the prescriber.
- Keep learning: NAIMA graduates receive complimentary membership with free access to virtual live training.
What about the 8-Day Preceptorship and clinic pathways?
The 8-Day Preceptorship Program combines Botox injectables, dermal filler, PRP, fat dissolving and sales and consultation training, with modules separated by 2-week breaks. NAIMA's FAQ states that about two in three program graduates work at 3D Lifestyle Clinics or affiliated partner clinics across North America, typically starting part-time at one day a week. Employment is not guaranteed, and the course page names clinic locations in Vancouver and Coquitlam rather than Quebec.

Confirm current requirements with the OIIQ before practising.
Does a NAIMA certificate let me inject in Quebec?

How much does the Neuromodulators Certification cost?
Posted tuition for the 2-day Neuromodulators Certification is CAD $2,500, subject to change. You can pay upfront, in four bi-weekly instalments, or through Humm financing arranged with admissions.
Can I train in Montreal if I live in Gatineau, Ottawa or Quebec City?
Yes. Clinicians can travel to Montreal for 1-day masterclasses and other courses. Your scope of practice is set by the college where you practise, so an Ottawa nurse follows Ontario rules and a Quebec City nurse follows OIIQ rules.
