What does the PRP Hair & Face Masterclass cover?

The PRP Hair & Face Masterclass is a 1-day advanced course on face and neck plasma rejuvenation and PRP for hair. It covers patient selection criteria, treatment protocols, preparation, injection techniques and post-treatment care.

Participants perform PRP treatments on live cosmetic models. The course page says "the program provides all models," trainers closely supervise all treatments, and training is in small groups. It is led by Dr. Peguy Telusma, Family & Aesthetic Medicine Physician and PRP Instructor, and it runs in Montreal at GLIF Medical in Verdun (phone (514) 665-0558), a training venue NAIMA uses in the city.

PRP hair and face training is also one module of NAIMA's 8-Day Preceptorship Program (CAD $9,995), alongside neuromodulators, dermal fillers, fat dissolving and sales and consultation training.

What does the Joint PRP Injectables Masterclass cover?

The Joint PRP Injectables Masterclass is a 1-day advanced course on PRP injection for knees, elbows and shoulders using a handheld ultrasound device. It also covers shockwave therapy protocols for over 20 musculoskeletal indications related to joint pain, including extended healthcare billing applications.

The curriculum includes patient selection, relevant anatomy, preparation, injection steps, safety protocols and post-treatment care, plus business integration strategies for adding these treatments to a clinic. Teaching uses live demonstrations and guided practice. The instructor is Dr. Jimmy Kwok, Clinical Assistant Professor and Masterclass Instructor. Ask admissions for current tuition.

NAIMA also runs a Musculoskeletal Shockwave Therapy & PRP Masterclass (CAD $6,995) covering shockwave therapy and ultrasound-guided PRP for knees, elbows and shoulders. Like every NAIMA masterclass, it is offered in Montreal.

What men's health masterclasses are available?

The Penile Enhancement & Hormonal Therapy Masterclass is a 1-day, hands-on course for medical professionals, led by Dr. Jimmy Kwok. Admissions can share the session outline.

Who can enrol in PRP training?

Licensed medical practitioners can enrol, including physicians, surgeons, nurse practitioners, RNs, LPNs, RPNs, internationally trained medical graduates and dentists. Several men's health masterclasses are described for "medical professionals," and the 3-Master Classes bundle is designed for family physicians and nurse practitioners. Admissions confirms eligibility for each course.

What are Quebec's rules for PRP?

The sources reviewed do not include a Quebec rule specific to PRP, so confirm with your college. The general framework for aesthetic injections from the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ) and the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) requires an individual assessment by a physician and an individual prescription for nurse injectors.

What the CMQ/OIIQ joint notice (PDF) says for aesthetic injections:

  • The physician individually assesses each patient, makes a diagnosis and sets a treatment plan with an individual prescription.
  • Collective prescriptions authorizing nurses to perform aesthetic injections are no longer permitted.
  • The prescribing or responsible physician must be available on site within 15 minutes after an injection procedure.

Two cautions for PRP specifically:

  1. Blood draw: the rules for venipuncture for aesthetic PRP are not settled in the sources reviewed. Confirm with your college.
  2. Federal status: the sources reviewed do not set out how Health Canada classifies autologous PRP for aesthetic use. Confirm with your college, and ask your supplier about the kits and centrifuges you plan to use.

The underlying statutes are the Medical Act (M-9), which reserves invasive procedures and prescribing to physicians subject to exceptions, and the Nurses Act (I-8). Quebec's orders have announced a joint initiative on common medico-aesthetic guidelines, so rules may be updated. See Who can inject Botox and filler in Quebec? for more.

Scope of practice is set by your regulatory college. Confirm with your college before practising.
