What is NAIMA, and does it train in Kitchener?
Yes. Every NAIMA course and masterclass is offered in Kitchener, Ontario, one of the cities on its locations page. Your venue details are confirmed when you book.
NAIMA describes itself as "a premier professional training and certification platform for medical and aesthetic device practitioners." Its about page says it "provides education in medical aesthetics for nurses, physicians, dentists" and for professionals pursuing aesthetic pathways, combining theory with hands-on experience, practical guidance and post-course support. The homepage reports 15,000+ graduates.
NAIMA trains in seven cities: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Kitchener and Regina, and all NAIMA courses and masterclasses run in every one of them. Book a call with Admissions to choose your dates before making travel arrangements. Sessions run regularly, and you can see current Kitchener options at naimaed.ca/courses?city=Kitchener.
Why train in Kitchener-Waterloo instead of the GTA?
For clinicians based in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Stratford, London, Brantford or Hamilton, the main reason is proximity. Training in Kitchener keeps your course days closer to home and your practice, rather than adding a trip into downtown Toronto around shifts, clinic hours and family time.
NAIMA trains in both Ontario cities. Here is how they compare on what the site states:
Kitchener, ON | Toronto, ON | |

Regulators that apply after training | CNO, CPSO, RCDSO | CNO, CPSO, RCDSO |
Practical for | Waterloo Region, Guelph, Stratford, London, Brantford, Hamilton | GTA and surrounding areas |
The key point: the Ontario regulatory picture is identical in both cities, so where you train does not change what you are permitted to do afterward. If Toronto dates suit you better, it is the in-province alternative. We compare the two in more depth in Aesthetic Training in Ontario: Toronto vs Kitchener-Waterloo.
Hamilton and Brantford clinicians sit roughly between the two options, and London and Stratford clinicians are farther west, so it is worth comparing dates in both cities on your Admissions call.

Other masterclasses on NAIMA's masterclasses page, also offered in Kitchener, include the Fat Dissolving Injectables Masterclass (targets areas such as double chin and belly fat), the Russian Lips Masterclass (lip anatomy and hands-on lip filler technique) and the Thread Lift Masterclass. Your Admissions call covers details on those.
Where to start. Most new injectors begin with the Neuromodulators Certification (Botox and other botulinum toxin products such as Dysport and Xeomin), then add the Dermal Filler Certification. The 8-Day Preceptorship Program bundles neuromodulator, filler, PRP, fat dissolving, and sales and consultation training into one advanced program delivered in modules with two-week breaks between them. For course-level detail, see our Botox training in Kitchener-Waterloo and dermal filler course in Kitchener-Waterloo guides, and for regenerative and men's health options, PRP and men's health training in Kitchener-Waterloo.
How much does aesthetic training cost in Kitchener?
NAIMA lists tuition by course: CAD $2,500 for the Neuromodulators Certification, CAD $4,500 for the Dermal Filler Certification and CAD $9,995 for the 8-Day Preceptorship Program. Confirm the fee for your Kitchener session on your Admissions call.
Payment options stated by NAIMA:
- Upfront payment.
- Four bi-weekly instalments (NAIMA FAQ).
- Humm financing, described on the financing page as "Flexible financing up to $30,000" for tuition and materials, "0% interest rate on eligible loans," terms of up to 5 years in equal monthly payments, and early repayment "without penalty or hidden fees." Humm says its credit decision takes "less than 7 minutes." Approval, rates and terms are confirmed by Humm at application.
One practical note: NAIMA states that "Online card checkout does not submit a Humm application." If you plan to finance, book a call with Admissions first so financing is arranged before you confirm enrolment.
Refund and rescheduling. According to NAIMA's refund policy, students in certification courses are eligible for a full refund with written notice 30 days before the class starts. NAIMA "does not have a partial refund policy." Enrolled students may reschedule to any course with 15 days' notice before the class begins. The policy names certification courses specifically, so ask on your Admissions call how it applies to a masterclass.
Who can enrol in NAIMA's aesthetic courses?
Licensed medical practitioners. NAIMA's FAQ names physicians, surgeons, nurse practitioners, RNs, LPNs, RPNs and internationally trained medical graduates, and its about page also names dentists. Each course page adds that "Entry requirements and practical training vary by program. Admissions can confirm your eligibility."
Enrolment and practice are separate questions. Being accepted into a course, and receiving a NAIMA certificate, does not authorize anyone to inject. What you can do afterward depends on your profession and your regulatory college, which is the subject of the next section.
Who can inject Botox (neuromodulators) and filler in Ontario?
Under Ontario's college rules, physicians and nurse practitioners can perform cosmetic neuromodulator and filler injections within their competence, nurses (RN and RPN) need authorization from a provider such as a physician or NP, dentists are limited to intra-oral cosmetic use, and estheticians are not authorized. Three colleges set the details.
Profession | Cosmetic injection in Ontario | Source |
|---|---|---|
Physician | Yes, within competence; CPSO delegation obligations apply when others inject | |
Nurse practitioner | Yes, autonomous; can authorize RNs and RPNs | |
RN / RPN | Yes, with authorization from a provider such as a physician or NP | |
Dentist | Intra-oral only for cosmetic purposes | |
Esthetician | No |
Why it matters. According to the College of Nurses of Ontario's Aesthetic Services practice guideline, neuromodulator and filler injections involve the controlled acts of "performing a prescribed procedure below the dermis" and "administering a substance by injection." The guideline applies to nurses without separating RNs and RPNs.
Client-specific orders for nurses. CNO has approved updated standards that require client-specific orders rather than directives for aesthetic procedures. According to the CNO release, the authorized provider completes an initial client assessment, in person or virtual, and sets a plan of care before issuing that order. Confirm the current requirements with CNO at cno.org.
Physicians. The CPSO's Delegation of Controlled Acts obligations require a physician to assess a new patient before delegating, or within two business days of the delegate starting, and to be onsite to supervise unless an exception applies.
Dentists. The RCDSO position allows toxin and fillers intra-orally for therapeutic or cosmetic purposes, and toxin extra-orally for therapeutic purposes such as TMD, but says dentists are "not authorized in Ontario to inject botulinum toxin or dermal fillers extra-orally for cosmetic purposes." Check the RCDSO for current guidance.
Scope of practice is set by your regulatory college. Confirm with your college before practising. Our full breakdown is in Who Can Inject Botox and Filler in Ontario?
What happens during hands-on training?
You inject, not just watch. NAIMA's core injectables courses are built around supervised practice on live cosmetic models that NAIMA provides, in small groups with one-to-one treatments meant to mirror a working clinic.
- Neuromodulators Certification: a minimum of 13 procedures (2 bunny lines, 2 lip flip, 3 frontalis lines, 3 glabellar lines, 3 crow's feet), with a medical practitioner shadowing students and instructors giving real-time feedback.
- Dermal Filler Certification: each student receives 10 syringes and performs a minimum of 2 of each procedure: lips, jawline, chin augmentation, smile lines, cheek augmentation and under-eye rejuvenation.
- 8-Day Preceptorship Program: groups of 6 students across 3 training beds, with models provided by NAIMA.
- PRP Hair & Face Masterclass: participants perform PRP treatments on live cosmetic models, with trainers closely supervising.
NAIMA's FAQ also says students may bring their own models to training. Members of the public interested in being a model can apply through the model call page; NAIMA notes that being a model is not free, though models see savings of "50% or more."

What support continues after the course?
NAIMA graduates receive a complimentary graduate membership with no fee. It includes a membership certificate, the newsletter and events, free access to all virtual live training with a certificate of participation, and email updates on internships, job opportunities, model calls and promotions. Membership expires in the same month of the following year.
For the 8-Day Preceptorship Program, NAIMA's FAQ says about two in three students who complete it work at 3D Lifestyle Clinics or affiliated partner clinics across North America, typically starting part-time at one day a week. The preceptorship course page states this is not guaranteed and names 3D Lifestyle clinics in Vancouver and Coquitlam. For a Waterloo Region clinician, ask on your Admissions call which partner opportunities, if any, are relevant to Ontario.
