What is NAIMA's dermal filler course in Vancouver?

The Dermal Filler Certification is NAIMA's hands-on course in dermal filler technique across six common treatment areas. It runs over 2 days at NAIMA's West Coast training location, and you inject under a medical practitioner's supervision rather than only observing.

NAIMA (the North American Institute of Medical Aesthetics) is a professional training and certification provider with 15,000+ graduates and 22 listed instructors, training in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Kitchener and Regina. Every NAIMA course and masterclass is offered in Vancouver. The Vancouver location draws clinicians from across the Lower Mainland, including Burnaby, Surrey, Richmond, North Vancouver and Coquitlam, and from further afield in Victoria and Kelowna. Because the course runs over 2 full days, out-of-town professionals usually plan to stay for both. Book a call with Admissions to choose your dates before booking travel.

How much does filler training cost in Vancouver?

NAIMA's Dermal Filler Certification tuition is CAD $4,500. Tuition is subject to change, so confirm the current fee with admissions before you enrol.

Ways to pay:

  1. Upfront at enrolment.
  2. Four bi-weekly instalments (NAIMA FAQ).
  3. Humm financing through the financing page: up to $30,000 for tuition and materials, repaid over up to 5 years in equal monthly payments, with "0% interest rate on eligible loans," no early repayment penalty, and a credit decision in "less than 7 minutes." Humm confirms approval, rates and terms at application. Contact admissions to arrange it, since online card checkout does not submit a Humm application.

NAIMA's refund policy gives Certification Course students a full refund with written notice 30 days before the class starts. There is no partial refund policy. You can reschedule to any course with 15 days' notice.

Do you need Botox training before filler training?

NAIMA's course pages do not set a course-specific prerequisite for the Dermal Filler Certification, and admissions confirms eligibility for each applicant. Many clinicians take the 2-day Neuromodulators Certification first, since both courses build on facial and muscle anatomy.

If you want both in one structured program, the 8-Day Preceptorship Program (CAD $9,995) combines Botox injectables, a dermal fillers preceptorship, PRP, fat dissolving injectables, and sales and consultation training, with 2-week breaks between modules. Its filler module covers the same six areas on a minimum of 4 models. See our Botox training in Vancouver guide for the neuromodulator side.

Who can inject dermal fillers in British Columbia?

Under current BC rules, physicians and nurse practitioners can inject fillers within their scope, and RNs, RPNs and LPNs can inject under a client-specific order with the ordering professional present at the facility. Estheticians and unlicensed staff cannot.

What the regulators say:

  • The BCCNM RN medical aesthetics page says Botox and fillers are within nursing scope, and that "a client-specific order is required for procedures involving injectables drugs/substances or implantable devices (including sutures used in procedures like thread lifts)." BCCNM classes most fillers as Schedule II in BC. It also states that "LPNs, RNs, RPNs, or certified nurses cannot give orders for medical aesthetic procedures."
  • The BCCNM LPN aesthetics page applies the same requirements to LPNs.
  • The BCCNM NP aesthetics page requires an NP acting as orderer to be "present in the facility during the procedure and immediately available for consultation," and limits clients under 19 to acne or scarring treatment.
  • The CPSBC Practice Standard on botulinum toxin, dermal fillers and sclerotherapy says physicians may order a BCCNM-licensed nurse to inject "following assessment of the patient," and that "No unlicensed person (such as a medical office assistant) may provide these injections."
  • BC health professions have been regulated under the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) since April 1, 2026.

Scope of practice is set by your regulatory college. Confirm with your college before practising. Our BC province guide covers each profession in more detail.

How are dermal fillers classified in Canada?

Federally, dermal fillers are medical devices, not prescription drugs. Health Canada's premarket medical device licence guidance classifies fillers without animal or human tissue as Class III devices, and those incorporating animal or human tissue or derivatives as Class IV. Provincially, BCCNM places most fillers in Schedule II, which is why BC nurses still need a client-specific order to inject them. Using Health Canada-licensed products is part of safe practice wherever you work.

Which advanced filler courses can you take after certification?

Once you are confident in the core six areas, NAIMA offers 1-day masterclasses that build on filler technique.
