Injectable foundations: Botox (neuromodulator) and filler

Most new injectors start with the Neuromodulators Certification, which applies to botulinum toxin type A products such as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. It covers face and muscle anatomy, product knowledge, safe injection practice and aftercare, then moves to supervised injections on live models: 2 bunny lines, 2 lip flips, 3 frontalis lines, 3 glabellar lines and 3 crow's feet treatments at minimum.

The Dermal Filler Certification is a 2-day course that adds filler-specific anatomy, product knowledge and supervised treatments across lips, jawline, chin augmentation, smile lines, cheek augmentation and under-eye rejuvenation. Read the detail in our guides to Botox training in Regina and the dermal filler course in Regina.

The 8-Day Preceptorship Program

The 8-Day Preceptorship Program is NAIMA's Advanced, module-based option. It covers Botox injectables, dermal fillers, PRP for hair and facial rejuvenation, fat dissolving injectables, and sales and consultation. Modules are separated by 2-week breaks, which suits working clinicians in Regina and across Saskatchewan who cannot step away for consecutive weeks. Training runs in groups of 6 students across 3 training beds, with 1:1 treatment designed to replicate a clinic.

Masterclasses

Masterclasses are focused, usually one-day sessions for practitioners who already inject or who want a clinical specialty. Every NAIMA masterclass is offered in Regina. Options include:

  • Fat Dissolving Injectables Masterclass: targets areas such as the double chin and belly fat
  • Russian Lips Masterclass: lip anatomy and hands-on lip filler technique
  • Thread Lift Masterclass: thread placement and technique
  • Liquid Rhinoplasty Masterclass: non-surgical nose refinement using dermal filler
  • PRP, men's health and longevity masterclasses: PRP Hair & Face, Joint PRP Injectables, Musculoskeletal Shockwave Therapy & PRP, Bocox & Scrotum Tox, Penile Enhancement, Oh! Shot™, Hormone Therapy, and Biohacking & Longevity, covered in our PRP and men's health training in Regina guide

Who can enrol in aesthetic training in Regina?

NAIMA's FAQ says licensed medical practitioners can enrol in a certification course, a masterclass or the preceptorship. It names physicians, surgeons, nurse practitioners, RNs, LPNs, RPNs and internationally trained medical graduates, and the about page also names dentists.

Entry requirements and practical training vary by program, and admissions confirms your eligibility. If you are changing careers and do not yet hold a health professional licence, raise that on your Admissions call before you plan around a course.

Post-licensure training matters in Saskatchewan. The CRNS Aesthetic Nursing Resource states that entry-to-practice education programs do not provide the education RNs and NPs need to administer aesthetic products (CRNS Aesthetic Nursing Resource). Focused, supervised training is how nurses build that competence.

Who can inject Botox and filler in Saskatchewan?

Saskatchewan limits cosmetic injection to regulated professionals working within their college's rules. For botulinum toxin, CPSS and CRNS have stated that a physician or NP must provide a patient-specific order (prescription) for each patient before an RN injects, and CPSS says the physician must have assessed the patient first (joint CPSS and CRNS notice).

Profession

What Saskatchewan sources say

Physician

Can inject. Must have assessed the patient before issuing a prescription for an RN to inject (CPSS).

Nurse practitioner

An authorized prescriber when trained and after completing the CRNS Confirming Nursing Practice process (CRNS).

Registered nurse

Needs a patient-specific prescription for each patient for botulinum toxin, and must complete Confirming Nursing Practice (CPSS and CRNS).

Licensed practical nurse

Confirm current requirements with your college (SALPN).

Registered psychiatric nurse

Confirm current requirements with your college (CRPNS).

Dentist

Neuromodulators only within a CDSS level certificate. Fillers: confirm with CDSS.

Pharmacist

Not authorized to inject for cosmetic purposes, or to inject Botox at all (SCPP).

Esthetician

Not an authorized prescriber or regulated injector; no Saskatchewan source authorizes injection.

Two cautions apply. First, CRNS guidance documents still describe "client-specific or population" directives, while CPSS rescinded the bylaw that allowed general directives to RNs in 2026 (CPSS Regulatory Bylaws). Where those documents differ, confirm current requirements with CRNS/CPSS. Second, the patient-specific prescription point concerns prescription drugs; how it applies to dermal fillers, which are medical devices, is a question to confirm with CRNS/CPSS.

A NAIMA certificate is education; it does not by itself authorize anyone to inject. Our full breakdown is in Who Can Inject Botox and Filler in Saskatchewan?

Scope of practice is set by your regulatory college. Confirm with your college before practising.

What do Saskatchewan nurses need before practising aesthetics?

RNs and NPs need training, the CRNS Confirming Nursing Practice (CNP) step and a prescriber relationship that meets current CPSS and CRNS expectations. The CRNS Aesthetic Nursing Resource says RNs and NPs must complete the CNP process before engaging in aesthetic nursing, and that RN specialty practices must be in place, which can be authorized through an RN Clinical Protocol (CRNS Aesthetic Nursing Resource).

For prescriber availability, CRNS says an authorizing NP must be "available to attend" should circumstances arise, which may include virtual or in-person care. Saskatchewan sources do not say whether the prescriber's assessment must be in person or virtual, so confirm current requirements with CRNS/CPSS. The joint notice also recommends that physicians, NPs and RNs obtain legal advice about their arrangements.

How much does aesthetic training cost in Regina?

Listed tuition runs from CAD $2,000 for the PRP Hair & Face Masterclass to CAD $9,995 for the 8-Day Preceptorship Program, with the Neuromodulators Certification at CAD $2,500 and the Dermal Filler Certification at CAD $4,500. Book a call with Admissions for pricing on other masterclasses.

You can pay in three ways:

  1. Upfront at enrolment.
  2. Four bi-weekly instalments, per NAIMA's FAQ.
  3. Humm financing through NAIMA's financing page: up to $30,000 for tuition and materials, 0% interest on eligible loans, terms up to 5 years in equal monthly payments, early repayment without penalty, and a credit decision in less than 7 minutes. Humm confirms approval, rates and terms at application.

Online card checkout does not submit a Humm application. Arrange financing with admissions first, then confirm enrolment once it is in place.

Refunds and rescheduling: NAIMA's refund policy gives a full refund for Certification Courses with written notice 30 days before the class starts. NAIMA has no partial refund policy. You may reschedule to any course with 15 days' notice before the class begins.

Where is NAIMA's Regina training held?

Every NAIMA course and masterclass is offered in Regina. Your venue details are confirmed when you book, so you can plan travel around a confirmed address.

To plan your Regina training:

  1. Check the Regina course listing for current sessions.
  2. Book a call with Admissions to choose your dates (a 30-minute call with a NAIMA Admissions Coordinator).
  3. Discuss your licence, experience and goals, and which programs suit your timeline.
  4. Book time off or travel once your dates and venue details are confirmed.

Training from Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Swift Current, Yorkton and Manitoba

Regina gives professionals across southern Saskatchewan a provincial training option. Nurses and physicians in Moose Jaw and nearby communities can usually commute in for a course day. Practitioners from Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Swift Current and Yorkton face a longer drive and may want an overnight stay, especially for 2-day certifications.

Regina is also a practical choice for professionals travelling from Manitoba, including Brandon and Winnipeg, who prefer a prairie training city.

A few planning tips:

  • Book once your venue is confirmed. Your venue details are confirmed when you book; arrange accommodation after that.
  • Plan around module breaks. The 8-Day Preceptorship Program has 2-week breaks between modules, so you return to Regina several times.
  • Flying in. If you are travelling from farther away, Regina International Airport is the usual entry point.
  • Have your licence details ready. Admissions confirms eligibility during your call.

Your regulator does not change based on where you train. A nurse in Saskatoon or Prince Albert answers to the same Saskatchewan college as a nurse in Regina, and a Manitoba professional who trains in Regina still follows Manitoba's college rules when treating patients at home.

What happens after you certify?

After certification, you still need the authorizing pieces Saskatchewan requires before you treat patients, such as CRNS Confirming Nursing Practice for nurses and a patient-specific prescription for botulinum toxin. NAIMA adds several graduate supports:

  • Graduate membership: complimentary, with no membership fee. It includes a membership certificate, free access to virtual live training with a certificate of participation, and email updates on internships, job opportunities, model calls and promotions.
  • Practice with models: NAIMA's FAQ says graduates can practise by bringing models to a 3D Lifestyle Clinic, only under an expert medical practitioner's supervision. The 3D Lifestyle clinics named on the site are in Vancouver and Coquitlam, BC.
  • Preceptorship pathway: NAIMA's FAQ says about two in three 8-Day Preceptorship graduates work at 3D Lifestyle Clinics or affiliated partner clinics across North America, usually starting part-time at one day a week. The course page says graduates "may be eligible for part-time employment opportunities"; employment is not guaranteed.

Marketing your services in Saskatchewan

Plan your marketing with your own college's rules in mind, because they differ by profession. CRNS guidance tells nurses not to use promotional or sale advertising or claims of superiority (CRNS advertising guidance). The CDSS Advertising Standard bars dentists from testimonials and from incentive programs, coupons, giveaways and discounts (CDSS Advertising Standard). Physicians should confirm current advertising requirements with CPSS. Federal rules also limit public advertising of a prescription drug to its brand name, proper name, common name, price and quantity (Food and Drug Regulations, C.01.044).

How to choose your first course: a step-by-step plan

  1. Confirm your scope. Check your college's current guidance on aesthetic injection.
  2. Book a call with Admissions. A 30-minute call covers your background, goals and the right program.
  3. Pick a starting point. Choose the Neuromodulators Certification, the 2-day Dermal Filler Certification, or the 8-Day Preceptorship Program if you want a structured, multi-modality start.
  4. Arrange payment. Decide between upfront payment, four bi-weekly instalments or Humm financing.
  5. Confirm logistics. Choose your Regina dates on your Admissions call; your venue details are confirmed when you book.
  6. Set up your practice framework. Nurses complete CRNS Confirming Nursing Practice and arrange patient-specific prescriptions with a physician or NP before treating patients.
